DEFINING OUR ACADEMIC QUALITY THROUGH OUR HUMAN CAPITAL COMPOSITION AND PROFILE
In line with our aspiration to be a full fledge university with multi-disciplinary expertise, we are strategically shaping and molding the composition and profile of our human capital resources to fulfill the depth and breadth of knowledge and competency for the enlargement in scope from the health sciences into other disciplines and developing our strength for postgraduate studies by focusing on research, innovation and consultancy. To this end, our strategies include:
- Continuous upgrading of our existing academic staff through our One- Up Scheme, a sponsorship scheme for our staff to further their studies.
- Systematic recruitment and selection of new academic staff.
- Increase the number of PhDs, associate professors and professors among our academic staff to ensure scholarly leadership and delivery of our academic programmes.
- Inculcate an academic culture of collegiality, continuous learning, collaborative research and publication and a healthy respect for intellectual property.
- Provision of training on teaching methodology, research methodology and other key areas of knowledge and skills critical in honing academic and intellectual skills as part of our continuous effort on human capital development and in enhancing students’ learning and satisfaction.
- Furnish regular feedback to our academic staff on their classroom delivery quality based on our periodic classroom audits as well as course and lecturer evaluation for self-reflection and improvement on teaching and learning styles as well as approaches adopted in inculcating learning.
- Provision of an academic career path for an individual to develop and grow his or her career within our institution.
- Provision of a work environment that thrives on a healthy respect for professionalism and integrity in work.
