By navigating through this website, I am certain you will be convinced on the value of our institution in providing relevant tertiary level education in the fields of health sciences as well as business, law, hospitality and tourism. Though we are newly introducing our business, law, hospitality and tourism programmes beginning 2012, we have produced more than 10,000 alumni in nursing and allied health sciences under AMU over the span of our existence. We have also generated an additional 2,000 alumni under our Metro Colleges at Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu and Kota Bharu in our recent Convocation 2011. All academic programmes offered by us at AMU, its branch campus at Bandar Seri Alam, Johor Bahru and Metro Colleges at Ipoh, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu and Kuching are fully or provisionally accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia. The approval and accreditation are based on the recommendations made by the professional bodies under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (including Malaysian Nursing Board, Malaysian Pharmacy Board and Malaysian Medical Council for the respective health science programmes).

Our history charted an illustrious path in Educating Malaysia, a path that paved the way for Malaysians to pursue private tertiary education in the fields of health sciences and be gainfully employed in the burgeoning healthcare sector. In creating opportunities for Malaysians, we believe in internationalizing our programmes and curricula not only for the recognition of Malaysians working abroad but also to benefit foreign students wanting to study in Malaysia. The two-pronged approach to our internationalization is critical in turning our graduates into global employees with the requisite knowledge and skill to function with agility and adaptability in a foreign environment locally or overseas as well as making international students at home in Malaysia while at the same time having the comfort and confidence that their tertiary education and qualification are relevant and beneficial to them. We believe in organizational learning and the Kaizen principle of continuous improvement and our way forward is paved by our willingness to learn from our past and to acquire a new and different set of knowledge and skills to keep abreast of the dynamic changes in technology and the micro and macro environments of our institution. As a private higher education institution, we strongly uphold the importance of research and development, where AMU is not merely applying and disseminating existing knowledge and skills but a contributor to the extension of such knowledge and skills. We are gradually evolving from a teaching institution to a research-oriented teaching institution where scholarship and intellectual capacity are increasingly recognized and valued as the impetus for individual and organizational growth.
